The Author of the Jameson Raid.
TRANSVAAL GOVERNMENT WANTS RHODES PUNISHED.
Capetown, June 19. Dr Ledys, the Transvaal Secretary ol State, has cabled to the British Government to the effect that the welfare and peace of South Africa requires that Mr Cecil Rhodes should be brought to trial for the part he has taken in connection with the ieceutj disturbance. He adds that the best proofs are in possession of Mr Chamberlain, which justify and.should compel him to take aotion. Dr Ledys also expresses regret at the delay that is taking place in making an inquiry into the raid, and further urges thab tho British South Africa Company should be deprived of oivil control.
