ALLEGED CROOKEDNESS

A protest against Stockboy in the Scurry Hack Race at Manawatu races has b«en sustained, and the stakes awarded to thei;econd horse, Hippodama, the stewards bein<; satisfied that the so-called Stockboy is Badger, a horse which ran at Auckland and other places, and has already been disqualified. Action regarding Lyons, the owner, and Lne, the trainer of Stockboy, has been deferred pending the rosult of an action Lyons intends bringing against a resident of Opunake, from whom it is alleged he bought the horse.

Steam vessels arc to be placed 011 the Sea of Galilee, and a sulphur cure may be looked for in the neighborhood of Bethsa'da.
