PIGEON SHOOTING.
A grand interprovincial pigeon match is announced to be held on the grounds of Stortford Lodge Hotel, Hastings, on Friday, March 18, under tho patronage and rules of the Hawkes Bay Gun Club. The I shooting will take place the day after the Jockey Club's race meeting and the programme consists of the Autumn Handicap, a Trial Stakes and Consolation Stakes. The handicap is a sweepstake of five aovs each, fifty por cent, going to the first, thirty to the second, and twenty to the third prize-taker. Nominations of one soy. on the 14th February, handicaps on the 18th, acceptances of 2 soys on the 23th, and final payments on Tuesday, 10th March. This will be an opportunity for our local shootists to test their skill wish the crack shots of the neighboring district, and as the outing will include the Hawke'a Bay Jockey Club's Autumn meeting it will no doubt be largely availed of.
