We quote hacks at from £4 10s to £15 i 10s ; light harness horses, from £10 10s to > £15 ; strong horses, for quick draught, > £17 to £23. Hides and skins : Hides were tolerably plentiful. The demand for heavy hides was brisk but not so good for lighter ones. 1 We quote hides at from 4d to 4^d per Ib, cow hides 2|d to 3£d, calf skins 4|d. i Skins were plentiful. Over 1,200 were i sold at from 2s 2d to ss. Wool : The second series was held at i the Durham wool store on Wednesday. Some 325 packages were disposed of, and ; notwithstanding the discouraging tele- ■ grams from London the prices for cross- > breds and merinos were sustained, but • there was a decline of one halfpenny per 1 1b on inferior long wool, and with the exception of one or two lots, a decline of £d [ per lb throughout the sale was submitted to. Taking the quality and condition into consideration long wool sold at from 6^d to 7|d, crossbred at from 6gd to 7fd, 1 merino 8d to B|d. ; Fat cattle were yarded in adequate : numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday and sold at from 15s to 19s per lOOlbs. Fat sheep : The market has been rather 1 bare owing to the absence of ship borne, and prices have advanced considerably on I the previous week's values. No heavy wethers were yarded, ]3s 3d being the 1 highest price reached. For wethers Is 9d per 81bs was freely given. Ewes sold at from Is 4d to Is 6d per 81bs. Lambs were in adequate numbers and sold at from os to 12s each. Pigs were in moderate supply but prices were in favor of the purchasers, good porkers having sold at 2Ad per lb, live
