Dunedin, August 4. The wholesale hardware merchants and ironmongers have written to Mr 1). Pinkerton, asking his assistance in the effort to prevent the sudden alteration in the tariff which is sure to entail loss on them. They ask till end of the year to dispose of the stock in hand, and point out that the new stocks corning forward, not required for consumption, could he headed until 1896,
