DEATH OF JUDGE RICHMOND.

Wellington, Aust 8. Judge Richmond died at 0 o’clock tonight from songestion of the lungs. He sat this day week on the Dean case, and has since been confined to the house. Death wen rather unexpected. Mr Justice Richmond died at his residence last evening from pnuomonia and inflammation of the lungs, after seven weeks illness. Aged 74 years. Ha was born in London 1821, He was called to the Bar from the middle Temple in 1845, after practising in England for seven years. He marriol a sister of the late Sir Harry, Atkinson, and with the th latter arrived in New Plymouth m 183G where he received the appointment of Pioviucial Attorney. He became a W member of the House of Representatives the same year and subsequently was appointed a member of the Crown, holding the offices of Colonial Secretary, Colonial Treasurer and Minister of Native Allans, retaining office until 1861, when ho went to Dunedin, where be practiced till the following year, where he was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court. , Deceased leaves a widow, and live daughters, two of whom are married, and four 09ns.
