PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.

The above Board held its usual mooting on Saturday, when there were present— Messrsßlake, Bremer, Curtice, Gower and Williamson. Minutes read and confirmed. Correspondence dealt with ; from Patea Harbour Board, drawing attention of Board to bad state of road leading up to railway bridge; from Mrs Prouse, asking Board to bave a bridle track made to allow access to ber property; from Public Trustee, consenting to deviation on Purangi Road conditionally on compensation being given for group J. Messrs Bremer, Gower and Williamson were appointed a committee to inspect lines of road referred to in letters of Harbour Board and Mrs Prouse, and report at next meeting. As to the Public Trustee’s letter, it was resolved that as all benefit from the road would accrue to Public Trustee’s tenants, the Board could not see its way to pay compensation .for land required, and consequently declined the offer made. Messrs Blake, Curtice and Gower were appointed a committee to bave surface water drained from Little Taranaki road, and to have necessary work done on Matuku road. Payment of three-fourths of the contract price of contract No. 1 was authorised. A discussion ensued on the County Council's circular, when Mr Bremer moved, and Mr Gower seconded, “ That in reply to the letter of the Patea County Council of the sth July last, this Board will be prepared to accept the offer of same fe subsidy, provided the Council will grant them seven-eighths of the subsidy, instead of three * fourths. Carried. Board then adjourned.
