DECEMBER AFTERNOON. There was only a small attendance at the December meeting of the Hamua Women s Institute, presided over by Mrs Hobbs. Th© Ode and Prayer for Peace opened the meeting and the president’s motto for the month was ‘ ‘ Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men.' Apologies wer© received from Mesdames Carruthers, Warner and Arrow. A letter of appreciation for a pullover was received from a member of the Navy, and one for a parcel received from a member of the Middle East Forces. A roll call, ‘‘Wavs to deal witu it broody hen.” brought forth some surprising but effective answers. Competitions resulted as follows: Six heaviest eggs, Mrs Norman 1. Mr s Hobbs 2; Bust bloom. Mrs Davies 1, Mrs Hobbs 2. The mystery parcel was won by Mrs Davies. A vote of thanks to the hostess. Mrs Bailey, and “God Save the King,*’ closed the meeting.
