THE RESERVOIR JOB
EXCAVATING ALMOST COMPLETE. The filling at the Wakeman Street excavation has developed deep cracks. It was deposited when the hillside was absolutely sodden, although the surface was comparatively dry. Many hundreds of yards of spoil must yet be dumped into the gully to give the access road even a good first gear grade so the stresses now evident are unimportant. The bulk of th© excavation has now been completed but th© major construction job has yet to begin Avhen men are transferred there from tho internment camp early in January. Excavation is being don© by Draper and Co., but the construction of tho tank is part of the racecourse undertaking.
