The Air Ministry (Mr Drakeford) has stated that Australian-made l Beaufort bombers are being used for submarine patrol work Thyy were constantly watching enoinious tracts of ocean and the recent sinkings of enemy submarines off the New South Wales coast showed that, the detection work of the Allied airmen was of a high standard. >\ liile it would be unwise to minimise the menace of an enemy submarine campaign the successes gained bv our bombers so far had been most encouraging. Other submarine packs were likely to attack Australian shipping a nd Allied patrols were keeping an unceasing y a toll.
