ACCIDENT AT LEVEL CROSSING
PASSENGER DIES FROM INJURIES. Electric Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N.. Last Night. As the result of injuries sustained to his neck and back when he was involved in an accident on the railway level crossing between the Himatangi corner and Bainesse shortly after midnight, George Scales, aged 22, of Main Street. Palmerston North, was admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital, where he died at 5 p.m. yesterday. It is understood that the motorcar in which Scales was a passenger overturned several times on the .crossing before finally coming to rest. The driver of the car. R. M. McKenzie, the All Black vice-cap-tain. escaped without injury. but other passengers in the car. C. Perrson and the Misses J. Hancock and P. Stevens, received slight injuries.
