FIREMEN OFF DUTY.
PAHIATUA BRIGADE MATTERS. Matters pertaining to the Pahiatua Volunteer Fire Brigade were attended to at a meeting ol this body on Monday night piesided ovei by Superintendent W. La wry. Accounts amounting t<» £3 Is were passed for payment and correspondence was read inviting the Brigade to functions at Wcodville and iVatherston and to the Foresters' Ball. Idle Superintendent and Messrs J. Stokes and A. Gowler were* deputed to represent the Brigade at Woodville, Messrs Collins and Morgan at Featherston and Messrs Taylor a id Murch at the Foresters’ Ball. The Superintendent presented Firemen B. Fairwcather and J. Stokes with trophies won in the i.-cont Dress competition. He also announced that Air G. O. C. Oxley, an old and loyal supporter of the brigade, had again come forward w r ith a donation—this time a handsome cup—for a Dress parade competition. Air Oxley was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his practical interest in the Brigade as shown further by the donation of the cup which is to !>e called the Oxley Dress Parade Cup. The Cup may be won outright—three times at intervals or five times in succession. The handicapping for this will be done by Fireman J. Stokes. Messrs E. Y'ineent H. Selby. S Church. A. Sumiex Ken Dungan and A. Tait were elected honorary members.
