FOOTBALLERS FETED.

BY HOROWHEXUA UNION. Alter the representative football match at Levin on Saturday, the visitors were entertained at dinner at the Grand Hotel (now conducted by Air Gordon Hill, Sour.), Mr J. Gillespie, president of the Horowhenua Rugby Union, occupying the chair. Air Gillespie stated that it was both his pleasure and privilege to extend a hearty welcome to the Bush representatives. He added that it was not often tlia-t they saw these players in the district, it being Horowhenua’s lot to travel to Pahiatua to play for the Bobbington Shield. It was a. good sporting act on the part of th * Bush representatives to make the trip, and he hoped they would come again. Whenever the H -rowhenua- team journey to the Bu>h it had been most hospitably entertained, and lie hoped on this occasion that the Bush players would return with many pleasant recollectioDs of their trip. (Applause). Air G. L. Chatwin, manager of tlio team, thanked Air Gillespie lor his kind remarks and the hospitality extended. He assured him that tho Bush had had a most enjoyable time and would look forward to another match. It was pleasing to moot such good sjmrts as they had met that day, and added that Horow hernia had been a. happy hunting ground. Air Chatwin explained that, the- district was well known sls tar as ho was personally concerned ; he bad resided at Otahj. for 3\ years. Three hearty cheers and “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows** followed, after which Air Gillespie congratulated tin* Bush on having such a ealiable secretary as Air Chatwin. Mr \\ T hite-Soott, a* former member of the Bush Union, stated that it was a pleasure to meet the hoys from over tho ranges, and said that then* were sonio playing that day who were probably grandsons of those he bad played with.
