The Education Gazette publishes the following paragraph regarding the raising of the age limit for school pupils’ free railway tickets: “The Minister of Railways has advised that free school season tickets can now lie issued to pupils (otherwise eligible) not exceeding 20 years of age The age limit has hitherto been a year less. The amendment of the regulation will take effect from the beginning of the second term.” Messrs Noecll and Bailey, Opticians of Palmerston North, would welcome the opportunity of making any adjustments to glasses worn by their clients of Patna tun and surrounding districts who may be visiting Palmerston North during Show T W eek Consulting rooms next to Bank N.Z. On Wednesday a painful accident befell Mr Stuart Taylor, son of Mr W. D. Taylor, and as a result the former had to have several stitches inserted in his face by Dr Paterson. It appears that Mr Taylor was walking across a small creek oil liis property, and suddenly slipped on the slippery surface of the stones. Unfortunately he fell against a stump protruding out of the water which madd a deep gash in his cheek, narrow* ly missing his eye.
Word has been received in Pahiatua by Dr. H. Paterson that Mrs Paterson was to have sailed to-day for Southampton in order to pay a visit to her mother in Scotland. ‘Mrs Paterson, who experienced delightful weather oit the voyage as far as Honolulu, met several New* Zealand friends en route, but had a most unpleasant trip from the Islands to Vancouver. She had a delightful stay in Vancouver prior to attending the Associated Countrywomen's Conference which ended at Washington last Sunday.
