He was a game little fellow for all his lack of size and when the big stranger went into the domain of his mistress with eyes aglitter and wiry white hair bristling with fighting intent. Skipper voiced his protestlike the the gallant little dog he was. Ensued a pathetic encounter which saw Skippy held fast by a powerful pair of jaws till lie was rescued by his mistress, who. in turn, was challenged fiercely by the canine stranger. For a while the fate of battle hung in the balance and then diplomacy succeeded where other efforts would have been disastrous, the warlike intruder being removed bv a. pacific hand.
