OXLEY CUP BOWLS.
EKETAHUNA RETAIN TROPHY
On Wednesday afternoon two rinks from the Pahiatua Bowling Club journeyed to Eketahuna in quest of the Oxley Cup. The home rinks, however, proved too strong and retained the cup by a rather wide margin. Simpson’s rink defeated Murphy, Chatwin, Lett and Walker (s) by 24—13, and Hornblow’s rink defeated Mills, Carrad, Pilkinton and Kersha.v (s) by 29—13. At the conclusion of play Mr E. Chatwin, on behalf of the Pahiatua club, congratulated Eketahuna on their very meritorious victory. He drew the players’ attention to the fact that the donor o 1 the very handsome cup, Mr G. Oxley, had sustained a very sad bereavement in the loss of his wife, and the members stood a moment in silence as a mark of respett »tor the late Airs Oxley and as an expression of sympathy to .Mr Oxley and his family.
