At the second wool sale prices at the opening were fully firm on those of the first sale in December. Stylish halfbred wools sold well under particularly good competition by overseas buyers as well as local mills. The demand for Merinos was inclined to be slugish as was the case in December. Hogget wools are not meeting with much competition, the highest price in the first catalogue was 19£d for a line of ten bales. First Corriedale ewe and wether wool from Roxburgh and good halfbreds brought from 16d to 17£d ; medium halfbreds, 14|cl to 15£d ; fine crossbreds, to' 13d ; crossbreds of 46/48 quality, BAd fo 9£d for super lines, the average being 7jd to 7£d. Prices for necks elicited keen competition, super lines bringing from 13£d to loci, while other super lines of medium quality 10£d to 12£d.
