PAHIATUA SWIMMING CLUB.

CHAMPIONSHIP CARNIVAL. A most enthusiastic meeting ot the above club was held last evening* Mr C. E. B. Irving presiding oxer a full attendance of members. Owing to the severe damage at the baths caused by the recent gale, it xxas decided to postpone the children s carnival, which was to have been on Wednesday afternoon next, until Wednesday, 12th instant. In the lirea 11 time the baths will remain empty for two days for the purpose of being thoroughly cleaned out. All matters in connection with the big carnival to be held on 26th February were discussed and finalised. The Man.ixvaSn Centre have .awarded the Pahiatna Club two championship events which will take place at this carnival. Already swimmers ii’om Masterton. Dannevirke. Palmerston North. W oodx ilie and Feilding h ive signified their intention of being here in lull force, so the local club may t*. 4 .y-vured oi an outstanding carnival. Ill© standard of swimming should l>e of a very high nature. It was decided to give the cup donated by Mr J. A. Walsh to the clun champion at the end of the seasun. Ihe cup is to remain the propotty ot Hie club, but is held by the winner for twelve months. > Ti e silver medal donated by Mr K Oxley is to be given to the boy or girl gaining the most points at the children's carnival on Wednesday. ]2tli instant.
