MORRO CASTLE DISASTER.
SHIP'S OFFICERS GAOLED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegra ph—Ooj > vright. NEW YORK, January 28. Heavy sentences were imposed on several officers of the steamer Mori*o Castle, which was burned at sea with heavy loss of life on September 8, 1934. The men, who had been convicted of criminal negligence, include Chief Engineer Abbott, four years in prison • Acting-Captain Warms, two years; executive vicepresident Cabaud of the v operating company, one year. This is suspended on the stipulation that a -5000doll ar fine be paid. The New York and Cuba Mail Steamship Company, operators of the vessel, were fined 10,000 dollars, the extreme limit provided by the Statute.
