HONOURED IN SILENCE.
THE LATE KING GEORGE V. At eleven o’clock this morning the muffled ring of the firebell tolled a warning note to townspeople, and immediately the stir of business and work in the town gave place to an awesome silence as citizens, businessmen, pedestrians, shoppers and householders alike all stood at attention for two minutes, thus paying silent, heartful tribute to ths memory of a beloved sovereign whose earthly body was about to be laid in its place of honour —thousands of miles away. At the conclusion of the observance, the beli tolled 70 times at minute intervals, each note representing a year in the life of the dead King.
