RAILWAY REVENUE.
Electric Telegraph—Tress Association WELLINGTON. Last Night. The General Manager ol Railways (Mr G. IT. Mackley) announced today on behalf of the Government Railways Board the financial results of railway working for the fourweekly period which ended on January 4. The gross revenue was £o9S, 203. an increase of £33,135 as compared with the corresponding period of last year. The expenditure for the period was £429,866. an increase of £26.395 over last year. (These figures include the increased expenditure involved in the per cent, increase in salaries and wages.) For the ten four-weekly periods of the current financial year to January 4 the total revenue amounted to £5,027.626 as against £4,775,908 for the same period of last year, making an increase of £251,718 in the revenue account. The working expenses for the financial year to date amounted to £4,427,906 compared with £4,205,152, an increase of £222.754 alter absorbing tile expenditure due to the increase The net revenue to date, as, compared with lust year, shows an increase of £28,964.
