THE LATE MR. S. BOLTON.
A WOODVILLE TRIBUTE. The vicar of the Woodville Holy Trinity Church, Rev G. W. Davidson, made especial reference to the late Mr S-'. Bolton, during the morning service at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday. In the course of his remarks, the vicar stated: “Knowing so much about him, one cannot refrain from expressing thanks to Almighty God for such a man—full of activity anil kindliness all through his long life, and of loyalty to his church and parish.” Over forty veafs ago, when at “Oete,” Mr Bolton came into Woodville every Sunday and took the services until a vicar was appointed. When Canon Eccles took charge, Mi* Bolton helped in every way he could and was warden and lay-reader. Many times when tilings were required, he always promised £T for every £T subscribed by the parish. “Many there are who have gone to their rest and also not a few living who could tell tales of sympathy and financial help quietly and willingly given,” continued the vicar. “We can only hope and pray that his good deeds will be linked v ith the memories we cherish of him and that in God’s own time he will enter into the joy of his Lord. May it he truly said of us all when we arc called by Death’s Angel.” concluded Rev. Davidson, “what Longfellow meant when he said : 'Lives of great men all remind us We should, make our lives sublime, And departing, leave behind us Footprints in the sands of time. Footprints that perhaps another Sailing o’er life's solemn main A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us be up and doing With a heart for any fate, Still achieving, still pursuing. Learn to labour and to wait.’ ”
