The annual general meeting of the Alarinia Co-operative Dairy Company was held in the factory building, Marima, on Saturday last. All- 11. A. Sievers, chairman of directors, presided over a small number of shareholders. The report was as f ollows: “Your directors regret that cheese prices reached the lowest point recorded for many years. The local market has again been the outlet for a considerable proportion of our manufacture. “Your directors propose to pay out at the annual meeting Id per lb on butter-fat supplied in Febrnary, and 2d per lb on that supplied in March and April ; any further distribution to he arranged when all cheese disposed of.” Statistics —season ended 30th June, 1933: Alilk for cheese-making, 2,449,0081b5, 103,0901bs butter-fat; butter-fat separated, 6401bs ; average test, 4.20; c-heese manufactured, 252 S99lbs (112 tons 20191b5) ; lbs milk to lib cheese manufactured, 9.681b5. The adoption of the report and balance-sheet was moved by the chairman, who stated that as regards prices for cheese the past season had been probably the worst one in the history of the industry in New Zealand! An increase of production by practically every supplier had counter-balanced a little. The company’s output had been increased by over six tons. Their local sales trade had shown a big increase and was more profitable than the export one. Expenses had been cut down, and over all f.o.b. were ,14d per lb cheese less than last year. A new separator had been purchased for the coming season and they hoped to get better results from their whey separator with this. After a brief discussion the report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. There being no other candidates, the retiring directors, Alessrs O. Lund and D. R. “Wylie, were reelected. Air L. D. Lovelock, F.Sc., was re-appointed auditor. The factory manager (Air J. N. AI organ) briefly addressed suppliers on the c-are of milk; they had been pretty good last season, and only 15 crates of second grade had been made. He pointed out that cheese grading was being stiffened up this season, with a compulsory penalty for second grade milk also, and he trusted one and all would do their best to ensure a good clean supply. - Votes of thanks to the chairman, directors and staff concluded the business.
