FEILDING SALE PRICES

Except for fat cattle, which are moving upwards m price, there was a general easing at the stock sale to-day. Fat ewes and wethers were down about 2s a head, and fat hoggets about 3s, but rates are still a full 50 per cent, above those of two months ago. Exporters were not operating, leaving butchers a free run of the market. A few pens of prime heavy wethers made 235, and primest maiden ewes 21s, while fat hoggets did not reach 20s. Store sheep were in short supply, and met a good market lor hoggets, which sold at advanced prices. The fat cattle market was keen for choice beef, bullocks going to £6 4s, and prime heifers to £7. The dairy market was oMer-su pip lied, and a dragging sale resulted. Store cattle were in fairly good demand.

Prices were: Prime heavy fat hoggets 17s to 17s 7d, good JL4s to 16s 3d, medium from 12s; prime maiden ewes 18s 3d to 19s, good 16s Id to 17s 9d, medium 13s 6d to 14s, backward condition 12s 6d up ; prime heavy wethers 22s to 235, good 19s 6d to 21s 9d.

Store sheep: Speciallv good weth< r - ; ■ nets) 21 - 3d. a-, d 14s Id to 15s 2d, fair 9s lOd to 13s Id; ewe hoggets, 15s Id ; m.s. hoggets, 15s lOd: ewes witli 100 per cem. 1 a mbs (sm all pen). 35s ; ewes i n lamb, 13s to 18s 6d ; store ewes, 6s to 6s 7d.

Fat cattle: A heavy offering of specially prime line Hereford heifers made £7, others to £6 ss; Shorthorn heifers made £5 3s to £5 17s 6d ; lighter heifers, £2 13s to £5 : prime fat rows, £4 to £5, lighter ;2 5s to £3 is 6d ; heavy bullocks, £6 4s; steers, £3 15s.

Dairy cattle: Springing heifers, close to profit, £5 to £6 10s ; late cal vers, £2 17s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; springing cows, £2 7s 6d to £5; heifeis in milk, £2 12s 6d to £3; cows in milk, £4 to £4 ss.

Store cattle: P.A. yearling steers, 30s to £2 3s 6d ; P.A. steers, twoyear, £3 9s; P.A. cows, r.w. P.A. bulls, £3 2s to £3 6s ; station P.A. bullocks. £4 8s 6d to £4 19s; Hereford bullocks, £4 6s.
