JUBILEE QUEENS’ CARNIVAL.
INTERESTING CONTEST
A Jubilee Queens* Carnival amongst three queens representing North, Central and South, has been inaugurated by the Eketahuna an l districts Catholic social committee. Three excellent queens are competing to bring special honours to their respect ive districts. For the north. Miss Denis© Mahoney, a favourite in many districts, and well and. favourably known in social, musical, tennis and basket-ball activities, mav be relied upon to make a good bid for Jubilee Queen honours. Mr Perov Wolland will assist in the northern candidature with his well-known secretarial abilities. The Central candidate is Miss Eva. Cavanagh, whose much appreciated musical, social and hockey activities will recommend her greatly to the public. Mr Pat Spring will be secretary for Miss Cavanagn and with his previous experience m managing socials and football clubs should he a decided asset to the central districts. Miss Violet Edge, assisted by Mr C. H. Parsons, of Eketahuna Jubilee fame as secretary, will contest the Jubilee title on behalf of the southern districts. Miss Edge is particularly well identified with her districts through socials, music and sport.
Besides being Jubilee Queen for this historical year of the Bush Districts development, the winning queen will receive a special Jubilee crown, among the trimmings of which will be noted ten golden sovereigns. The second queen will be the recipient of a cheque for £5. Each queen will appoint maids of honour, little princes and princesses, also pages us members of their respective courts. Photos of the winning court, as well as the winning districts queen, will be published and presents will be received by tile Royal Jubilee Court.
