SLOT TELEPHONES ROBBED.
12,000 PENNIES TAKEN
Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 9. John Muir appeared in the Police Court charged with stealing 12,000 pennies fx-om slot telephones. The evidence of detectives was that accused was seen loitering about the telephone booths at the General Post Office. It had been suspected that tampering was going on, as the recoi’ds showed that the receipts had diminished. A watch was kept on Muir and when arrested he admitted obtaining £SO by manipulating the machines.
Muir pleaded guilty anti was committed for sentence.
