BOWLING NOTES.

(By “WRONG BIAS.”) The singles championship of tho Pahiatua Bowling Club has been won by Percy Bisset, with 15 wins to his credit out of 17 games. Percy put up a good performance and deserves liis success. Congratulation's I Sinclair and Alorton tied for second position with 13 wins. The two Britlauds, Fred and W/ally, were the only two bowlers who were capable of lowering Bisset’s colours. The tournament, which was played on a time limit, could not bo called a success, time and opportunity being of considerable advantage to a. competitor, but tin this connection Bisset ms not favoured. Th© present writer is of opinion that the fairer way to decide this chainp.onsliip would be to allow: the four leading' men at th© end of tho time limit to play off for the finals, irrespective cf th© individual number of wins. The pairs tournament still drags on, but now that the weather is more favourable, it is to be hoped that more matches will bo played. 1 think, also, that it- w*ould be in the best interests of the C'luh and the game generally, if the two leading pairs in this competition were also to play off, as a similar remark about tim© and opportunity would also apply to this tournament. A bold challenge on the board a “come one, come all” invitation by Breeds and Dr. Paterson offering to play all and sundry, especially sundry, was promptly and with considerable alacrity accepted by the holders of the “Buckles,” Wakenran and Walsh. The game, however, was, to put- it mildly, a. trifle one-sided, the challengers having little chance of winning after the first few heads had been played, and the match resulted in an easy win for the holders, 34—12. It must be remembered, how - ever that Breeds is only a second season’s player. Paterson and Bisset —a very strong combination —are now out to wrest these much coveted trophies i'r. in tho holders, and a gam© will ;• ;babiy eventuate on Thursday or Friday next.

A gala day is to be held at Levin on, Saturday next. Pahiatua is expected to be represented by two rinks. It is very doubtful, however, if one rink can be got together. This class of tournament, does not altogether appeal to bowlers. They are friendJv and all that, but they lack ‘ ‘bite.’ ’ The Victoria Club (Wellington) is expected to send along a ’few rinks some time this month. So far the local club lias received no reply to its invitation.
