Obliged to postpone his marriage as ho was unable to find an apartment, Josef Franz, aged 28, decided to asphyxiate with coal gas th© inmates of his stepmother’s apartment, including his sister, fiancee, and himself.
The attempt failed, but not to be baulked, he armed himself with a razor, and almost severed the heads of his stepmother and sweetheart, and also mortally wounded his sister. Ho then hanged himself to the doorpost.
