LEVY ON ODDFELLOWS. TO RELIEVE DISTRESS. A special summoned meeting of the local Lodge of Oddfellows was held last night to consider a proposal to strike a ievy per member to meet cases of distress through the war. It was unanimously decided that a levy of Is per member be struck. The proposal emanated from the Board of Directors of the Order in Wellington. to whom the amounts raised will be forwarded. The Mayor acknowledges with thanks a cheque for £SO from the Balia nee Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd. (per G. Godfrey Taylor, secretary) towards the Empire Defence Fund. The total amount of the Mayor’s list to date is £324 11s 6d.
