CADETS' SOCIAL.

The Patriotic Social held by the Pahiatua Senior Cadets in the Drill Hall last night was largely attended and proved a financial success, though the amount available for the Empire Defence Fund is not known yet. The Hall was decorated with military flags, scones, and accoutrements, the drapings being lent by Mr L. Joyes. Tlie dance music was supplied by Miss E. Morris and Messrs R. Boagey and F. Kelly. The piano used was lent by Mr F. G. Moore. Mr David Crewe was encored for his two vocal selections. The M's.C. were Lieut. Jellie, Col.-Sergt. Bird and Sergt. Wade. During the evening the Godley Cups, for which funds were raised by the local ladies, were presented by Captain Braddell to Cadet Mingan (Makomako), No. 79 Company and Cadet Brown (Mangatninoka). No. 78 Company. The trophies were awarded fot markmanship. and they were originally presented to tile Cadets on the occasion of General .Godley\s Rfiwiew at Masterton in May last, but were handed back to the authorities in eider to have certain engraving done. The cups will be bold by the respective companies for the ensuing year. Cadets Mingan and Brown were also presented last night with medals for their excellent shooting, and these trophies IxM-ome their personal property. Cheers were given for the recipients. Mr A.
