HUNTLY MINE DISASTER.

FUND OPENED IN PAHIATUA. The Mayor of Pahiatua (Mr J. D. Crewe) has received a circular from the Huntly Town Board relative to the mining disaster in that town, by which 43 men lost their lives. Many of the men had large families dependent upon them. In two cases, the miners killed were widowers, one having seven children and the other fonr. The Mayor has decided to open a subscription list, and all amounts received will be duly acknowledged. The Mayoress and Mrs Toss will are also arranging for a street collection in Pahiatua on behalf of the fund. A copy of the circular has also been addressed to the “Herald.” and donations will be received at this office. The Mayor has contributed £1 to the fund.
