Reuter says that the Dominions have made no proposal for a Defence Conference; therefore there is no reason for surpise ;Tnd disappointment overseas. It is impossible for the Imperial Ministers to go to Vancouver owing to pressure of business. The Admiralty has sold by auction three pioneer submarines of the Holland typo. WHAT CAPETOWN THINKS. Capetown, Last Night. The Argus states that if it is not worth while to hold a naval conference some will presume the naval situation is not as disquieting as suggested in Mr Winston Churchill’s Canadian memorandum. Nevertheless the need for Imperial co-operation in sea defence is as imperative as ever. THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY. Sydney, Last Night. In connection with the Fleet Week festivities the Government entertained the crews at luncheon. Various other festivities were provided for 2000 school children, who visited the ships to-day. The city and fleet are nightly illuminated. A NEW ARMY BOOT.

London. Last Night. At the Leather Exhibition a new style of boot of the Derby shooter pattern, with a chrome side and upper of very fine quality was shown, designed for army purposes. Contracts for 10,000 pairs were placed, in order to test them. Exhibitors agree that the scarcity' of raw material is increasing, and higher prices are inevitable.
