ASSESSMENT COURT PAHIATUA
AA EDN E7-DAY, JULY 23. (Before Mr AA . P. James. S.AI . and Messrs Cooper and Cameron. Assessors.) The Assessment Court sat at the Courthouse yesterday tor the purpose • it bearing objections to the revised valuation roll lor Pahiatua County. Mr Lloyd represented the Actuation Depart ment. Quite a number of objectors tailed to put in nil appearance, while in many instances satisfactory arrangeHunts were made with objectors by Air Lloyd. The objection ot John AAoolridge, Konini. was disallowod. Nicholas Samson's property. Maugatainoka. was reduced t'2o less than its former valuation. Albert Beet hum, for whom Air («. H. Smith appeared, was reduced Irom L'lli t.o L'l2 per acre on the unimproved value. The basis ot Mr Becthmn's oiljeotion was that the unimproved value oi bis property was rot uniform with bis neighbours. AA'. Priest's objection was that the unimproved value oi bis properly inei cased L 202 in throe yens. It was reduced to f_‘3so and the value ol bis impruvi ments to 1110. Tic case ol D. Crewe oicupied t Inattention .ot the Court tor some three hours, and excited considerable inter est. Air Crowe, who conducted bis ease with considerable ability and skill, objected on the ground that the
valuation of In's improvements w.ie too low and the unimproved value too high. After a fair amount ot evidence had been taken the Alagistrate reserved his decision. Other cases heard, and in which the Alagistrate reserved bis decision, were those oi Messrs AY. J. Foster, Albert Pringle. D. Priest. R. McKenzie and T. J. AA'hitta. After hearing evidence in Air AA hitta’s case.'for whom Air G. H. Smith appeared, the Court adjourn'd till Wednesday next, the 31st in=t.
