Amongst the resolutions the following were unanimously ap- . proved : - The industrial section desires to affirm its conviction that the world’s social order can only be made ChrisfTan through individuals i whose life is devoted to the single purpose of doing God’s will, who constantly renew I that purpose in His presence, and who at all costs strive to carry their allegiance to j Christ into every part of life. .Recommendation 1: Whereas we recognise that in the present social order there are many elements contrary to the principles of Christ in that it ignores tho sacredness of human personality, and, by the acceptance of coercion and competition of ruling principles of human progress, sets man against man and nation against nation; and uliereas we are persuaded that it is possible io change tile present system and to introduce into national and international life tue Christian principle ot lot e and cooperation, and that to deny this possibility is to deny some of the most important teachings of l lirist, we recommend that , the Young Women’s Christian Association, as a body of Christian women exercising an ever-widening influence in many lauds recognise their share of responsibility tor the mui adjustments in the social order of to-day, and litaKe it their concern to inform themselves fully a', to existing social conditions, and to apply the principles ot justice, mercy, and equal value of every human life to national and international, as well as to personal, relations ixocominendation 2: Whereas wo believe j that the great hope for the civilisation ot I the futtre iies in the permeation ot the I democratic movements and political bodies in every country with Christian ideals, and j that this can only be achieved through an ' inciease of mutual understanding and fellowship between groups who have in common tne desire for social righteousness, although their methods may he diverse, we recommend that the Young Women’s liiristian Association seek every occasion to understand the ideals of, and, so far as possible, to co operate with other bodies who i are striving to improve the conditions of . the world m which we live. Recommendation 3; Whereas there are m : every country great groups oi industrial women with whom the association has not , yet established contact, we recommend that ; flic Young Women s Christian Association j make eery effort to get into touch witii j those workers in much larger numbers : through -inch means as foyers, clubs, cani teens, and hostels; and that ill all such 1 centres st If-governnient shall be encouraged to the ft 1 lessr possible extent, and that social I economic e-iucation and training tor citizeni ship shall form pari of the programme, so that members may lecogmse their respoui sibiutics and take their part in developing ; Christian ideals in their trade organisations and tne lite of the community. And m tile industrial sections the following resolu- , tions : | Whereas the girl of the present day, when Ignorant in the matters of sex rela- ’ tionship, stands in grave moral danger, we recommend that the Young Womens Christian Association in every country encourage or initiate education in the true relafioi s between -lieu and women from the social, ethical, and spiritual standpoint. Whereas it is of vital importance to every nation that a high moral standard be maintained, and whereas it is impossible to have a pure womanhood where there is not also a. pure manhood, we recommend that in every country the Young Women’s Christian Associations work tor an equal moral standard.
