HOKITIKA, August 19, The Canterbury Progress League tion, who is visiting Westland, yesterday motored through the agricultural districts of Arahura and Kohotahi, and also Lake Kanieri. In the "evening a public meeting was held in the Town Hall, a welcome extended to the visitors, and West-land's wants brought under their notice.. - The meeting resolved that, in view of the magnitude, urgency, and importance of the work ot electrification of the Otira tunnel, the.Gov'' eminent be urged to endeavour to arrange with the Imperial or Canadian Governments for the loan of their most eminent engineers, thereby hastening the work, ensuring its success, and giving New Zealand engineers the opportunity of getting the most modern methods.
