Saturday night's rioting, in Dublin lasted from half-past 8 till 11 o'clock It was evidently pre-arranged, and it is understood to have been a reprisal for the death of Farrel, who was shot by soldiers in Dublin during a recent demonstration in favour of Dr Mannix. Assaults on soldiers occurred in several parts of the city, parties of civilians waylaying soldiers in streets, and raiding tramcars, from which the soldiers were dragged and thrown on the groand and '-Mjfced. One was thrown into the River Liffoy, but was rescued. Th- military sent out patrols in an armoured car, which restored order after firing several volleys in the air. Mean - while parties of soldiers returned the assault, using their , belts. One party formed across Dame street and swept the roadway clear with their belts, and another broke out of barracks carrying entrenching tools and chased the crowd until ordered to desist. An armed attack was made on a military guard in Upper Castleyard. The picket returned the fire, but there were no casualties.
