BOWLING.
A sensational development occurred as the result of a split in ths Whitoria Bowling Club. A week ago a vote was taken on the liquor question, and the club decided to "go dry" during the coming season. A section of the members thereupon rulad that about 30 of their members were disqualified owing to their never having been elected according to the rules, although they bad played as members for years, and that there were only 29 legally chartered members remaining. On the 18th the disqualified members seized the club's rollei and mowers with the intention of forcing legal action regarding their position. The English Bowling Association has accepted the suggestion of the Australian Bowling Association to send a team to Australia in 1920. COUNCIL OF THE ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, August 18. The voting for the 1919-20 council of the New Zealand Bowling Association has been completed, with the following result: President, Mr Summers (Christchurch); vice-president, Mr Bush (Wellington) ; Council: North Island—Messrs M'Callum (Auckland), Dimock, and Gray, and Colonel Collins (Wellington), Smart (Taranaki) ; South Island —Messrs Barnett, Bruce, and Dickson (Christchurch), and Nicholson and Marlow (Dunedin). The council its headquarters at Christchurch.
