A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that in the amateur billiard championship of New Zealand 11. G. Siedeberg defeated "Warren in the final by 653 points. Siedeberg's average was 13.4, and his highest break was 188. At the opening of the tournament Mr C. Sanders, the president, addressed the gathering, and commented on tl-e sportsmanship of Mr Siedeberg, the present champion, who had journeyed from Dunedin to defendi h's title. In the evening Siedeberg opposed Farrell, the veteran of the competition. Both started slowly, the champion finding the sprea-d of the balls hard to grasp, while the veteran played many brilliant shots. At the 20th cue
the scores were: Siedeberg 261, Farrell 219. At this point Farrell seemed to tire, while Siedeberg improved, pushed steadily ahead, and won by 251 points. Siedeberg's best breaks were 23, 23, 55, 37, 55, 38, 47, and 78. He averaged 9.5 per cue.
