DEATHS OF SOLDIERS.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 31. Private Owen Rogers died from consumption in the hospital at Cashmere Hills. He served throughout the Boer war with an Imperial regiment, and in the present war jointed the 4th Reinforcements from Reefton. He received a bullet in the lungs on Gallipoli, and returned to New Zealand at the end of 1915, and has been in hospital ever since. His relatives reside at Merthyr Tydvil, in Wales. WELLINGTON, August 30. < The Defence authorities advise that Private H. J. C. Johnson (34th A.S.C., Featherston) died suddenly after playing football at the Featherston military camp, at 4 p.m. on August 29.
