MILLER'S FLAT.

January I.—So far this part of Central OtagO has no reason to complain against the year 1916 that has just expired. Farmers and fruit-grower's seem to bo satisfied, and business has been brisk. Tho wool clip is up to tho average, and -lamb per cordage beyond. Tho crops have had a very good start, but the present spoil of exceptionally dry weather will bo a big setback, and rain is badly wanted. Tanks aro all empty, and creaks aro drying up, but the Molyneux still keeps flowing on with its never-failing supply. Holiday-making.—The holiday season is now in full swing, and people seem to enjoy themselves just tho same as if the whole world were at peace. School Concerts—The Miller's Flat School break-up concert took place on Inday, the 22nd, when an elaborate programme, carried out by the children and somo local artists, was highly appreciated' both by parents and audience. The performances of the children were creditable to both teachers and taught Sports.—The Miller's Flat annual sports were held on tho Cricket Ground on the 28th. The sports this syear did not come up to their usual standard. This might have partially been duo to tho unaccountable absence of our old bellman, Air Dave Wilson. Patriotic Concert.—Tho Miller's Flat patriotic concert came off on tho 29th, and from what I can learn it was a fine entertainment and a financial success.
