PUKEPITO.
Juno 23. —Owing- to the soaking rain wo have experienced during this Inst week the district looks quite fresh and green again. This is the middle of winter and the river running bank high reminds one of the spring. All the autumn sown crops in the district are- looking remarkably well, but most of the farmers are going in more for sowing giass than any cereal as men are so scarce for harvesting. The Roads. —All the roads up till lately have been quite a pleasure to travel over, and had metal been put on a few chains of the I'iver bank road, while the weather was good, a big improvement would have been effected, as traffic on this road during the last, few years has considerably increased. Winter Feed. —The turnip crops round about have been exceptionally (rood and scarcely a. day passes bid' one sees mobs of sheep or cattle going down to the freezing ' TVrsonal— Mr John M. Begg's health is still in an unsatisfactory state, and his friends all wish a turn for the better to take I>l ace.
