The annual mooting of tho Citizens' Band was held on Tuesday night. Owing to tho rain there was only a small attendance. Tho Mayor (Mr Beck) presided. Jhe balanoo sheet and report were approved, the statement showing that the band had a _most satisfactory balance in hand. The chairman complimented tho members on their readiness to assist on all occasions when required, giving their services freely. On Wednesday one of the local fruiterers when returning to tho shop after attending an ambulance meeting got a surprise. An aged Chinaman had retired for the night on the pavement in front of the shop, having made his bed under the verandah, and carefully placed his boots on the doorstep.
