GOING TO THE FRONT.

A social evening was tendered to Mr Alfred Morgan at Mosgiel, where a larga number of friends assembled. Mr John Isbistcr spoke in glowing terms of the young maii's worth. Some very useful articles were presented to Mr Morgan, including an illuminated wristlet watch from his father, a useful dressing-case from his mother and other members of the family. Mr Morgan was home on final leave. He will sail with the 15th Reinforcements. Mr Osborne Barclay, only sen of the late Mr A. R. Barclay, has resigned his position with the National Mortgage and Agency Company, and will leave for Trentham next week. At a soSial evening given by the hockey and soccer clubs of Mosgiel a presentation was made to Mr J. Caldwell. Mr Wylie, in making the presentation, referred to the recipient's afj.sociation with the clubs and the work he had done, and concluded by wishing him God-speed and a safe return.
