LODGING HOUSE BURNT

NEW YORK, December 5. Fire destroyed a lodging house in South End, Boston. A number of men who jumped into life nets were saved. One Swede leaped from the top story wrapped in a mattress, and escaped with a few scratches. After the fire was extinguished 25 dead bodies were recovered in a charred state. Several ambulance loadsof those injured were conveyed to the hospital. December 4. The cause of the fire has not been discovered. An investigation has been started with the object of ascertaining if the house was overcrowded. The injured people are recovering and there have been no further deaths.
