HEAT WAVE IN AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, December 3. Great heat is being experienced throughout the State, and bush fires in many district's ha.ve caused severe damage. Many farmers round Dubbo and Junee have suffered heavy losses of wheat, hay, and grass, some of the farms being swept clean by the flames. A number of towns, including Broken Hill, are feeling the effects of the protracted hot weather, and water famines are threatened at several places. December 4. The heat w-ave is becoming more intense. Amongst many high temperatures registered were those at Bourkc and Jerry’s Plains, each being 116 deg in the shade. In Queensland the registers in the Longreach district ranged from 120 deg to 124 deg. Bush files arc prevalent everywhere.
