DEFAULTING CADETS
SYDNEY, August 22,
In connection with defaulting cadets, the prosecuting counsel in a number of cases pointed out that the imposition of fines defeated the intention of the authorities, whoso objects was that all defaulters should undergo military training until they reached a standard of efficiency. The parents in many cases paid the fines of boys, consequently they went free of punishment. The magistrate thereupon remitted the fines, and ordered the detention of the delinquents in barracks.
