SINKING OF THE TAVIUNI
SYDNEY, October 16
The Marine Court of Inquiry found that the Nera-T.aviu.ni collision was caused by Captain Beighton, master of the Tavhmi, failing to keep his steamer on a proper course. Captain Baighton's record showed that during the 18 years he had been at sea he had never previously had an accident. Judge Murray, in suspending Captain B eight on's certificate for six months from the date of the collision, said the court was sorry to have to deal with the certificate of a master who had hitherto managed Ms ship without an accident.
