LAWN TENNIS.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. , WELLINGTON, May 10. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association held a special meeting to-night to consider proposals for an alteration in the method of governing the game. There was a fair attendance. Mr C. T. Aschnrann, the Canterbury Association's special delegate, moved—" That the affairs of this association shall be managed by a council, to consist of one delegate from each affiliated association." He said the present system was antiquated for a great part of the work was done between the quarterly meetings, of which members heard nothing. A great mass of local work should be done by the local associations, leaving the national or general affairs to the central body, Mr B. Keesing (Auckland! seconded the motion. Professor Hunter said a great danger was that the proposal would introduce the club element. Mr G. L. Peacock said he was heartily sick of changing the constitution. Complete changes were made in 1908 on Canterbury's proposition. Mr T. A. Hurley sa.id the present Management Committee was composed .of the best men at the head of affairs. It would be better to give them power than allow it to ba placed in the hands of delegates at a distance. Mr Gray said Obago had instructed Mm to support the proposal. The motion was lost by 27 votes to 15/ and a similar fate happened to Mr Asbhmann's motion that the affiliated association's have one VOtO for the first 300 members and an additional vote for every additional 300 members. A motion by Mr Asohmann altering rates of subscription was also negatived. • It was announced that Mr P. H.
