BOWLING.
Secretaries are requested to lorward particular »f games played ana o. forthcoming matches. The Dunedi.n Club sent three rinks to try conclusions against Lawrence and Milton last Wednesday and Thursday. The weather was all that could be desired, and the greens very good for the lateness of the season, particularly at Lawrence —hi fact, the opinions expressed were that the latter was equal to any in Duinedin. The play in some instances was very good, and most enjoyable. The hospitality was fully appreciated, no pains being spared to entertain the visitors. right from the moment they arrived 1 , and though the,scores in each instance were in favour of the home teams, t'h,* visitors took it in. good part. Lawrence were victorious by 4 points, and Milton by 8. The Caledonian Bowling Club held a most sucoessful smoke social in the pavilion on the 12th, Mr C. F. Greenslade presiding. The attendance was a very large one, and the greatest joviality prevailed. A number of toasts were proposed duly honoured. Mr Keast presented to Mr A. W. Brown (the club's secretary) and to Mr E. H. Hocking (the caretaker) a case of pipes each, in recognition of the efforts they had made in connection with the electric light tournament. He referred to the ungrudging manner in which these two gentlemen had given their services, and mentioned that the funds necessary to procure the presents had been collected by Messrs P. Evans and A. Black, for whom cheers were given. Mr A. J. Sinclair presented the club prizes won during the season, the prize-takers being:— Messrs Tompson, Lamb, H. M. M'Lauchlan, J. Clark. L. H. Campbell (first in Rinks); Messrs J. Smeaton, A. J. Sinclair, J. Veitch, J. Scott (second in Rinks)K Messrs P. O'Drisooll, D. Smith (first in Doubles); Messrs D. MTntyre. *3. Edwards (second in Doubles); Mr J. Veitch (first in Singles); Mr J. Scott (second in Singles); Mr J. Dey (first in Handicap Singles); Mr W. Bennaghan (second in Handicap Singles); Mr J. Carroll (first for Blaney's bowls); Mr C. Saxby (second in same competition); Messrs W. Dunford, P. O'Drisooll (Colts' Doubles); and Meters W. Stewart, W. M'Viear. M. Coughlan. and A. M'Donald (first in Saturday tournament). The health of the winners was drunk with musical honours, and the toafit of ''The. Visitors" was similarly received. During the evening songs and ' recitations were given by-Mews R. Brown, Rawlinson, L. Campbell, Dunn, A. Stewart, and several others.
A rink of Taranaki bowlers visiting Sydney suffered defeat bv 26 points to 14 from a Sydney team. The Taranaki nlavers defeated a Randwick team by 46 points to 43.
