> in. •Tis better to b© born a slave, And draw at last a freemans breath, Than to bs born a king and leave Thy son a bondsman s chain at death. Good -motive is a victor’s crest, And even in the realm of sin, The Master may forgive! He knows You sought forbidden flowers for Him. When, childlike, in the hemlock shade The poison bloom your hands did pull, Deeming the offering must be blessed Because the buds were beautiful. Remember that strength Is not a thing of flesh and bone: The secret of divine success Lies in an upright mind alone. —John Maclennan.
